This May Day Wollongong workers are coming together in solidarity to fight for our rights. We’re facing attacks on many fronts, from the appalling lock-outs by Port Kembla Coal Terminal management, rampant wage theft in hospitality, casualisation at UOW and across industries, and industrial campaigns at the Steelworks and in the coal mines. Our nurses are fighting for decent patient ratios and our early educators have been striking against the sexist gender pay gap. Our struggle is one of the whole working class – solidarity across industries has always been our strength in #UnionTown
Join the Wollongong May Day rally at 10am meeting at Lowden Square (near Wollongong Train Station). We’ll be taking our message to the streets with a March through Wollongong to Crown St Mall.
The system is rigged for the 1%. Australian workers face some of the worst anti-union legislation. We need to #ChangeTheRules but to do that we need mass collective action.
May Day is a day of solidarity between the international working class. Our labour makes the world run. Without our work not a cent of profit would be made. Yet we face rampant inequality with the 26 individuals hoarding the same wealth as 3.6 billion people globally. Trickle down economics was a lie, the system is failing, it’s time to unite in solidarity & fight back!
